Wallace Snuggs
Chairman
It’s almost election time again; we will be electing three board members. Two will be elected for three year terms and one for two years. If you are interested in serving on our board, please have your biographical sketch turned into the office by March 31, 2009.
Beginning in March we will be making major repairs to our pool. The pump house will be updated and we will make changes to the pool to comply with the new federal, state and county rules.
I would like to thank all residents who take their time to pick up trash on our roads. I don’t understand why some people insist on throwing their thrash on our roadsides.

Director Maintenance
Woodrun Maintenance Winter 2009
Joe, Tim, and Bob have been busy preparing the pool pump house for the spring renovations. They reworked the old access road going to the pump house to enable the pool people better access when the repairs start in March. If you have been by the old Woodrun dock lately you probably have also noticed the grading on the Boat Dock Road. The guys are widening the road to allow better access and more parking as spring quickly arrives in a few more weeks. The drive going to the boat launch (beside the maintenance shop and the dumpster) is also a work in progress. Two hundred feet of pipe has been placed in the ditch to allow over flow parking for vehicles and trailers on those busy summer days when everyone is trying to launch their vessels. And last, but not least, the last big project for this winter will be a widening of Woodrun Drive in front of the newspaper box.
Please let Joe, Tim, and Bob know how much you appreciate their hard work the next time you see them.
Jim

Gloria Bowers
Director Security
Lenn Bullock, our chief security officer, has announced that he will retire on February 28, 2009. Lenn has worked here at Woodrun for four years, supervising the other guards for American Security, working mostly the weekday shifts. Lenn, at 72 years of age, has certainly earned the right to retire, but we will miss his kind and efficient way of handling the many situations that have confronted him at the gate. He has learned to know us and our families, always striving to serve the residents of Woodrun to the best of his ability.
Lenn says he has loved getting to know us, and he says that we are great people to work for and he will miss us. He is, however, physically tired and says he wants to rest and do some work around his home. Lenn has four children, seven grandchildren, and one great-grand child, and he looks forward to having more time to spend with them. He says he has never had much time for hobbies, but we hope now he will find something fun to do in his retirement.
Please stop by to see Lenn and let him know how much we appreciate his loyal service. He will truly be missed.

John Fulton
Director Building & Camping
With spring around the corner the campground will be opening and we hope to have volunteers to help clean up the area. Many Woodrun residents have never been to the campground and we invite you to visit. It is a part of Woodrun and should reflect it as such.
Spring also brings with it the start of mowing season and the reminder that all vehicles that are permanently parked by the road are to be removed and stored elsewhere.
I hope everyone is ready for a great season
John Fulton

Boating Facilities Director
Boat Docks and Boat Storage
Boat Docks
Repairs are currently being made to the new boat docks due to damage sustained during the high winds we experienced several weeks ago. We are still working on procuring light fixtures and poles to complete the wiring and lighting of the additional docks. This project should be complete by spring.
Woodrun Marina –Richard Yorkovich, Dockmaster
Spring will soon be in the air and this makes a boat owner anxious to once again relish the pleasure of touring Lake Tillery. This will first encounter your effort to bring the vessel out of winter hibernation. Hopefully, no damage had occurred and you will soon be a captain once again.
I would like to emphasize some basic regulations/suggestions for mooring your boat in a Woodrun slip:
1.
The number one priority is that your vessel must NOT be touching the bumper
board. It should be at least 12 inches away. The bumper board is for mooring
only, not for repeated slamming by your vessel after being secured in the slip.
2.
Your should use the green floatation rings (on a chain) with your ropes TIGHT.
This will keep the boat away from the bumper board and allow your boat to float up and down with a variation in the lake level. This will also keep your boat from lodging
underneath the bumper board in event of a lake fluctuation.
3. Nylon, not polypropylene, rope is recommended for mooring. The rope should be at least 3/8 inch in diameter. Nylon has more “give” and will not deteriorate as fast.
4. Rubber fenders are recommended to protect your property and Woodrun slip.
5.
Please use common sense and be considerate. You are renting this slip and are responsible for any damage or alterations that may encounter. Review your slip lease agreement.
There is a bulletin board at the main marina parking lot. Please check this for any news or further instructions as we enter the summer season. We are planning on installing receptacles, lights and security cameras on the new docks as better weather approaches.
HAVE A HAPPY AND SAFE BOATING FOR THE 2009 SEASON

Clubhouse Director
Seventy degree days in February?? What a wonderful treat that was! We all knew it wasn’t here to stay, but still it was a wonderful promise of a beautiful Woodrun spring. As the warmer temperatures bring more of us outdoors and spring cleaning efforts begin, let’s renew our good neighbor policy here and all help to keep Woodrun looking clean. We have many here that help with that all year long by picking up roadside trash. Let’s all make a conscious effort to join them in their efforts…first of all, not littering and second, picking up things we see. With all of us working together, we can maintain the beauty here that we all love so much.
